How We Got Started
Great Australian Concrete opened in Mackay in March 2025, built on a simple idea: concreting done properly shouldn't be complicated for the customer. We're a QBCC licensed and insured team working across residential, commercial and civil projects, and we handle everything from house slabs and driveways through to larger commercial pours.
Our focus has always been on getting the groundwork right, because that's what separates a slab that lasts decades from one that starts cracking within a year. We manage every stage of a job ourselves, so you're dealing with the same team from your first enquiry through to the final sweep.

Our client base is a genuine mix. We pour driveways and patios for homeowners renovating or building fresh, we work alongside builders and developers on new residential and commercial sites, and we take on projects for local business owners, industrial operators, civil contractors, rural property owners and councils across the region.

Why We Do It This Way
There's a temptation in this trade to rush preparation and get to the pour quickly. We don't work that way. Site preparation, formwork and base compaction take time, and skipping steps here is exactly how driveways end up cracked or uneven within a couple of years.
We'd rather spend the extra hour on preparation than have you calling us back about a problem that preparation would've prevented. It's a straightforward philosophy, and it's one that's shaped every job we've taken on since opening — from exposed aggregate driveways to large commercial hardstands.
